Hans Oppe

I have been a SCORE counselor in Richmond since 2004. I completed my education in Germany, the country of my birth. I have a Masters Degree and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Aachen.

Until my retirement a couple of years ago, I was a corporate officer in industry. For 20 years I was the CEO of the local company Hauni Richmond, Inc, a subsidiary of the Krber AG, headquartered in Germany. The company designs and manufactures high speed equipment for the production of consumer goods. Previous to that I held various management positions in the product groups of Power Engineering and Medical Equipment for Siemens AG in Germany and in the USA. Since 1985 my family and I have lived in Virginia.

Because of my background in engineering and since I also was involved with the international corporate world, I have a special interest in consulting clients with ambitions in technical or international areas. Many clients just seek information about how to start a business. Some clients are very creative, and hope to gain information helpful to them in protecting their intellectual properties. Others are looking for assistance when meandering into the field of foreign trade. Each client presents new and interesting challenges.

I enjoy these opportunities to share my knowledge and my time with each person who is looking to start or to improve a business. I find it very rewarding when the clients' ventures are successful.
